The Groundnut Tour in Malawi held its inaugural event 16-18 April 2024 in Lilongwe. Over 300 participants from 133 entities, and 12 countries made this event a huge success. The Tour and Expo included 13 site visits and 48 exhibitions.
The Tour is a high-profile event showcasing Malawi's emerging groundnut sector and business opportunities in the value chain. The key objectives of this event are to exhibit the investments throughout the value chain that are enabling Malawi to produce high-quality, market demanded groundnuts for international and regional markets at competitive prices; raise awareness among Malawian farmers of opportunities in groundnut, including new varieties and technologies; and provide opportunities for networking among key value chain players.
These events are also a platform advancing a groundnut industry community in Malawi and to galvanize commitment to improving the enabling environment for the industry. During the event, participants tour industry operations along all points in the Malawi Groundnut value chain, including R&D, seed production, and processing; attend presentations and conversations on the future of groundnut in Malawi; and participate in networking opportunities.
A heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders, including local, regional, and international buyers, traders, producers, and researchers for making the tour the memorable and impactful occasion that it was. We look forward to the next Tour together!
